Gord Brown tapes railroad safety message
October 19, 2006
Ottawa - Gord Brown, Member of Parliament for Leeds-Grenville, today taped a railroad safety message that will be made available to local Cable television stations.

The message emphasized the need for pre-cautions to be taken while crossing railroad tracks and recognized the 25th anniversary of Operation Lifesaver, which offers railroad safety training to students and other members of the community.

The message says:

"The Government of Canada will invest in 115 safety improvements at highway-railway crossings this year including several in Brockville.

"Operation Lifesaver - a partnership with police, unions, industry, government and community groups -- is marking its 25th anniversary this fall as a Canadian success story saving lives along the tracks in our community.

"But drivers and pedestrians still need to respect traffic signals, use caution approaching intersections, and not trespass on railway property.

"As the Member of Parliament for Leeds-Grenville, I am proud to be a partner and help keep you and our community safe.

"Let's all do our part!

"Look, Listen and Live!"
