Gord Brown and Poverty Reduction Alliance host consultation on poverty reduction strategy
Brockville – Gord Brown, Member of Parliament for Leeds-Grenville – Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes along with the Leeds-Grenville Poverty Reduction Alliance host a community consultation on Monday, March 27from 5 - 7 pm at the 1000 Islands Mall large community room.
This is an opportunity for local residents to share what they want the federal government to consider as it develops a Canadian poverty reduction strategy.
The consultation will be guided by the federal government’s “Toward a Poverty Reduction Strategy” discussion paper that is available for download on the front page of Brown’s website at www.gordbrownmp.ca
“I am pleased to host this meeting so that people in Leeds-Grenville can have input into the federal strategy,” says Brown. “It is important that our voices be heard in this discussion.”
Loretta Corbeil, Chair of the Leeds Grenville Poverty Reduction Alliance, states she also welcomes the opportunity for local residents to come together and build local and national consensus on reducing poverty.
Consultation results will be consolidated in a report “What We Heard” that will be submitted to Employment and Social Development Canada and will be used to inform the development of a federal poverty reduction strategy.
