Brockville - Gord Brown, Member of Parliament for Leeds-Grenville, will hold a pre-budget consultation on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Bud’s on the Bay.
“We have had a lot of representation from the public in e-mails and phone calls over the past few weeks and I know there is a lot of interest in the upcoming federal budget,” Mr. Brown explains.
“I decided to hold an open house to let people submit their written comments to me and spend a few minutes telling me what they would like to see in the budget.”
The meeting takes place from 11:30 am to 1 pm and people can drop in and out at any time.
Submissions should be prepared in written form and as many people as possible will be given two minutes to highlight their presentations in point form.
“If time permits we can have more detailed discussions,” says Mr. Brown.
Following the meeting, he travels to Ottawa with the presentations.
If anyone wishes to make a presentation but can not attend the meeting, they can be submitted in writing to the Brockville constituency office at 27 King Street East, Brockville, ON K6V 1A7. They should be mailed to arrive by January 6, or they can be dropped off in person on January 5 or in the morning of January 6.
Alternately, submissions can be made directly to the Finance Minister at the following address: Office of the Honourable Jim Flaherty, P.C., M.P., Minister of Finance and M.P. for Whitby-Oshawa, 435-S Centre Block, House of Commons Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, K1A 0A6. No postage is necessary.
